Message from the Principal

Welcome to MMS!

Dear Middletown Middle School Families,

Welcome to Middletown Middle School for the 2024-2025 school year. I am excited to welcome our new and veteran families to MMS this year!  So much work has been done on campus this summer to help welcome our students to a fresh and updated year.  You’ll notice new paint, updated classrooms, work on the Tallman Gym at MHS, and preparations for a new middle school gym!  We can’t wait!

The first day of school is August 8, 2024. (Yes, it is a Thursday).  We will have orientation for the 6th grade on Monday, August 5, 2024. The 7th-grade orientation will be Tuesday, August 6, 2024, and the 8th-grade orientation will be Wednesday, August 7th, 2024. All orientations are from 4:30 to 6:30 P.M. (You don't have to show up at 4:30; any time in those 2 hours is fine.)

I recognize that these dates are cutting it close to the first day of school, and I apologize for how close that feels. I wanted to let you know the reasoning behind that decision. This year, the calendar has students starting school on a Thursday, so teachers are not back with us until Monday that same week. The purpose of orientation is to receive class schedules, get yearbook pictures taken, and purchase items needed, but the almost more significant reason is to hopefully start to build a relationship between families and teachers and take some of the anxiety away from starting a new school year for our students. To do this, I wanted all staff to be able to be on campus, in person, to meet your child and you! We all must know each other and start off being able to work together and communicate well.

I hope that helps a bit!

Please feel free to call or email me with any questions. I'm looking forward to serving our students and community again this year.
