8th Grade Promotion
PROMOTION BEHAVIOR AND ATTIRE
Parents/Guardians, we need your support for our promotion ceremony. This event is not a formal activity. Tuxedos, limos, formal gowns, etc. are prohibited. It is not our interest to dictate dress; rather, we want to provide a middle school appropriate activity that will allow for students to attend without pressure of dress and dating. Formal activities are appropriate at the high school. All regular school rules apply. Students with spaghetti straps, bare shoulders, midriffs, or other unsuitable dress will be deemed inappropriate. The rule of thumb is dress casual, neat, clean, and by the MMS Dress Code.
REQUIREMENTS TO ATTEND PROMOTION CEREMONY
To receive a certificate and walk at the promotional ceremony a student must:
- Earn passing grades and maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA in the core curriculum classes.
- No semester "F"s.
- All book fines and monetary obligations need to be paid and cleared through the office on the student check-out sheet.
- Maintain satisfactory attendance (may not be under SARB review or monitor).
- Maintain a good discipline record, and not be suspended.
8th Grade Promotion is the last Thursday of the school year @ 7:00PM in the Tallman Gym.
Although the ceremonies have been completed, STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND SCHOOL on the last day of school. This is a minimum day, and students who are not on the non-privileged list will be rewarded with fun field day activities (sports games, rewards and raffle drawings for attending, and inflatable games).
