April 2019

April is Child Abuse Awareness Month! MMS is putting up pinwheels around campus in honor of child abuse awareness. Please help us spread the awareness and talk with your students. Any questions, concerns, or you just want to talk, please contact Lisa Hart from Healthy Start in Room 31 or email

This month MMS is joining the movement to promote Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Month to raise awareness that child abuse is preventable.

For #PassThePinwheel, post a photo or photos throughout April of you and your colleagues, friends or family with pinwheels and a brief explanation of what they represent (the national symbol of child abuse prevention) and challenge others to plant pinwheels, too!

For ATTENDANCE, please call Teri at (707) 987-1441. Please add this number into your phone!

Attendance cannot be changed after 48 hours. Parents must provide the note, the reason, and the excuse within 48 hours of the absence and we cannot go back in after that to change a student's attendance. The state has tightened everything up and we need to make sure our data is consistent. Parent Knowledge is no longer accepted as an excused absence by the State.

Employee of the Month: Karin Stirling-Rooney!

Reminder: Snack Window closes at 12:25. No exceptions!

MMS PTSO is fundraising online with Dutch Mill Bulbs. Our fundraiser will run through April 22nd. 7th graders who would like to be considered for next years 2019/2020 Leadership class, please come see Cia in the library!! The application deadline to turn in is April 24th 2019.

ATTENTION PARENTS: As the school year comes to a close, all fees and dues need to be cleared up before the end of the school year otherwise yearbooks and report cards will be withheld and not sent up to the high school and in return, schedules will not be created for the high school. Any questions or concerns, pleases contact the Middle School Office.

Mr. Coit is looking to add more high interest books to his library. He created an Amazon wish list with the students' help. If you would like to donate, please click the link. Thank you for all your help!

Project Alert curriculum is going to the school board for review before they present to our students. Project Alert has been with MMS for the last few years, however, MMS would like the school board to review the content of the curriculum before their return. Please see the web link for review. The Project ALERT curriculum was created and tested by the RAND Corporation, a nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization. Developed over a ten-year period, Project ALERT addresses the pro-drug mindset of today’s teens and effectively increases their likelihood to remain drug-free.

If you are on the Non Privilege List during the month of April (8 or more Pride Page Marks) or lose your agenda, you will not be eligible for our MMS Fun Day on the last day of school, which is a required school day.
