7th Grade Field Trip Permission Slips are DUE on Monday, October 28th to Mr. Coit! Please make sure to get them signed and submitted!

MMS Minimum Days: Students are released from class at 11:45am and then lunch is from 11:45-12:15PM. Busses go about 12:40 for both middle school and high school students.

For ATTENDANCE, please call Teri at (707) 987-1441. Please add this number into your phone!

Attendance cannot be changed after 48 hours. Parents must provide the note, the reason, and the excuse within 48 hours of the absence and we cannot go back in after that to change a student's attendance. The state has tightened everything up and we need to make sure our data is consistent. Parent Knowledge is no longer accepted as an excused absence by the State.

Reminder: MMS is a CLOSED campus! Once you are here, you cannot leave and walk across the street! Students, you cannot go off campus in the mornings.

In Afternoon: MMS is still a CLOSED campus from 2:30-3:20 while the high school is in session. Students, you cannot leave and return to campus to hang out during this time. If you’re staying for after school tutoring, you’re in a classroom. Otherwise you’re off campus.

Leadership Update

October 21- November 8

Hey Y’all! Leadership is having a different kind of competition for our canned food drive. It’s 7th grade versus 8th grade so students can drop off cans during any class period! There will be awesome prizes for the class that wins! Feeding our community is a gift we can all share. It will begin Monday, October 21st and run through November 8th. Thank you for your help!

7th and 8th grade girls interested in basketball:

Sign up for both 7th and 8th grade girls will begin on Monday November 4th and end on Friday November 8th.


1. An Athletic Packet needs to be filled out completely either online or by picking up one in the MMS office before 2:30 on Friday November 8th, OR you will not be able to tryout for the 2019-2020 basketball season.

2. You need to sign up in the MMS office on the Girls Basketball Sign Up sheet by 2:30 on Friday November 8th, OR you will not be able to tryout for the 2019-2020 season.

Please understand that this deadline for paperwork is to make sure the Athletic Director can check grades and ensure that all necessary paperwork has been submitted prior to tryouts. There will be no exceptions to this deadline and please plan accordingly. You can turn in an Athletic Packet at any time prior to the week of signups. If you are unsure if you have submitted an Athletic Packet contact Mrs. Slaight and she would be happy to let you know. Thank you!

Tryouts will be Tuesday November 12th- Thursday November 14th and although athletes are not required to attend all three days it is highly recommended. 8th grade will be from 3:30-4:45 and 7th grade will be from 4:45-6:00 in the MMS gym. Please wear your P.E. clothes for tryouts. Tryouts will also be closed tryouts which means only the coaches and athletes may be in the MMS gym. Parents are welcomed to wait outside, but may not be in the gym during the tryout times. Any questions please contact Mrs. Slaight. Thank you!

Saturday, November 2

Please come support Middletown Middle School Athletic Program on November 2nd at Black Rock Golf Course! We are looking for four-person teams to play 18 holes with a shotgun start at 1:00. Prizes for winning foursome, long drive, hole-in-one, closest to the pin. Following the golf tournament there will be dinner provided by Rosales Market, and a great silent auction. Additional tickets for dinner may be purchased through the Middle School or by contacting Tamara Slaight @ tamara.slaight@middletownusd.org. Spirit of the Season: Registration at Middletown Methodist Church. Eligibility: You must currently live in HVL, Cobb, Middletown and you need our help to be able to give your family a Christmas meal. Community Service forms are available in the MMS Office and online on our school’s website. Community service is not mandatory for middle school students, but we do honor those students who have completed 10 or more hours during their middle school career at 8th grade promotion. Students may not receive payment for their time, nor can their parent sign off on their form unless cleared prior by the office. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Sam in the office at sam.dean@middletownusd.org. Community Service forms are due to the office by Friday, May 15th!

MUSD policy does not allow any medication to be given at school, including "over the counter" medication, without having a Physician's permission note on file.Parents should prepare for the "occasional headache, etc." by having their Student's Physician fax a note to the school if they would like the school to be able to administer medication. Notes are good for one school year.Student's are NOT allowed to carry any medication at school without permission from the School Nurse.

We will no longer be dispensing prescribed OR over the counter medications (Tylenol, ibuprofen, benadryl, etc.) without a letter signed from parents and PHYSICIAN. We can no longer call parents and get verbal over the phone permission. If a student is sick with a fever, requires benadryl for an allergy, etc. then without a physician note the student either needs to be picked up ASAP or the parent can come self administer it themselves. Each student must have their own labeled bottle in the original container that we can store in the LOCKED medicine cabinets at each site. We can no longer provide the medications at each site. Once A Week Take A Peek-Fight back against head lice! Use proper detection comb to trap head lice.

If head lice are spotted, take a close look at all the family, including yourself, and ask close family and friends to check as well. Inform the school.

Should your child stay home?

Check your child for head lice on a weekly basis and treat straight away when live lice are found. We do have a NO NIT policy, once your child has no live lice or nits they can attend school, child care and all other activities as usual. Please take your child to the office to be checked by staff. If nits or live lice are found your child will have to return home with parent/guardian. Please check your child’s head for head lice weekly. If we all work together we can eliminate the problem quickly and prevent the spread to other students.
