Message from the Principal
Dear Middletown Middle School Families,
Middletown Middle School would like to welcome everyone back for the 2019-2020 school year. We are so excited about this year to come.
First, we would like to welcome new team members to MMS. Please welcome Joleen Jessen for 8th grade English language arts. Shannon Coleman-Pazoki 8th grade math. Lastly, we would like to welcome James Stryker for 7th grade science. Shannon and James come to us from Sonoma county and Joleen lives right here at home in Hidden Valley Lake. We would also like to welcome our student teacher Kaitlin Wiltjer! She will be with us until December.
We are excited to announce the addition of a few elective courses. Ms. August will teach food science to wondering minds. This 8th grade elective will be infused with health topics to keep our students making good, educated, healthy eating choices. Mrs. Jessen, will livin’ up Middletown Middle School with a rejuvenated drama program. Stay tuned for announcements on when our productions will take place! Ms. Welton has received a generous grant from Middletown luncheon club to start a new art class. This 7th grade elective will bring artistic students enrichment at the end of the day! Our electives will run on the trimester system, which means we will have three electives per year instead of four. This gives us the opportunity to have interventions for struggling learners embedded in our school day.
Please join school site council or Parent Teacher Student Organization, PTSO, this helps our school by getting your feedback. PTSO meets the first Monday of each month at 5:00 pm in the MMS library. Our school site council will meet four times this year to get stakeholder input for our school. School site council will meet at 5:30 PM in the MMS library on Monday, September 9, 2019. Ballots will be sent out Tuesday, September 3 and will be due back Friday, September 6th, 2019.

At Middletown Middle School we take the safety of our students seriously. We have safety drills, earthquake, lockdown, and fire drills scheduled for each month. Please know in April and May we will be conducting some unannounced safety drills. This helps us see where we can strengthen our loopholes in our process. Parents and guardians will not be informed of mock practice drills ahead of time. Feedback from fire and law enforcement professionals will help us keep our students the safest possible! Here is our schedule of public practice drills we will conduct throughout the year.
Please feel free to reach out with any further questions or concerns. We are excited to start a new school year!
