Message from the Principal

Hello MMS Families!

Wow, we are down to less than thirty days of our 2016-17 school year! This year has been quite a year! Overall, I am very pleased with the academic and social progress of our students. It has not been an easy year to say the least. Our students and staff have faced many challenges and I am very proud of everyone and their ability to rise up (literally, at times with all the flooding) and make this a successful school year. The Middletown community has been amazing in these past two years as we continue to recover from the Valley and Clayton fires. Our MMS staff can certainly feel a sense of anxiety and stress that many of our students seem to be shouldering as we all still continue to rebuild. But, “Middletown Strong” is a REAL thing and I have been so proud of everyone that has rallied to come together and help each other.

I would like to send out a big thank you to our Drama Club and Ms. Jessen for all their hard work and dedication towards our Spring Play…The Great Olympiaganza! It was a tremendous success and everyone involved should be very proud. Our 7th graders are looking forward to a field trip to Bothe State Park in the Napa Valley on May 15th and 16th. We will take approximately 60 each day. Please look for the permission slip soon and return it by May 5th.

We appreciate all the support from our families that have donated through our fundraisers and all the parents that attend our sporting events.  We had a good turnout for our 3rd quarter academic awards assembly and I look forward to handing out many more awards during our Promotion Ceremony on Thursday, June 1st at 7pm.

Many parents of our 8th grade students are hard at work getting ready for the parent sponsored Promotion Dance on May 19th.  Let’s have a strong finish to our school year and I think it is safe to say that we will finally be able to enjoy some sunshine!
